Flu clinic starts 30th September at Taw Hill

Some patients (the elderly and those with chronic conditions ) may be advised to take the precaution of being vaccinated against the more aggressive forms of "the flu". Please remember that this vaccine is produced and distributed nationally based upon what types of flu scientists expect may hit the UK in the winter months and therefore cannot protect patients against all forms of "flu". If, however, their predictions are right, the flu vaccine may protect vulnerable patients against the worst effects of a flu outbreak this winter. Click here for more details about how to seek an appointment for flu vaccination.

Health Education Access Library at Taw Hill is being launched by Michael Wills MP today Saturday 13th July

Local residents and visitors to the practice will notice that the practice is sporting a shiny new white satellite dish bearing the logo H.E.A.L.T.H -  We are aware that many of our patients may not have access to an internet connection  with which to take advantage of our on-line health resources. The Access Library will help provide uniformity of access - 12 terminals are provided linked to a fast 4 Mbit Satellite connection. Mr Wills will open the HEALTH Library at 12:45 today - all welcome !

Jane Davies - one of our morning reception team has passed her phlebotomy (taking blood) course with flying colours -Congratulations !

Taw Hill Medical Practice now has two receptionists who are also trained to take blood samples. Many of you will know Jill Harris, our current phlebotomist. Jane Davies, a member of the morning team has now completed her course of instruction and her assessment at Princess Margaret Hospital and is available to take blood early in the morning if necessary Mon-Fri. Jane is pictured here sporting her purple phlebotomy uniform in front of the Centrifuge (we use this to spin down blood samples so that the results are more reliable when transported to the laboratory). The purchase of the centrifuge was made possible by the very kind donations from the family and friends of the late Mrs Christine Duroe.

We were fed up with the look of the old site and couldn't bear to see it looking such a mess any longer so we took matters into our own hands and employed our own team of site engineers - a day's work makes all the difference

The Simon Clinic ( Vasectomy Clinic) is now operating on Friday and Saturdays from the operating suite at Taw Hill Medical Centre

The Simon Clinic moved from Swindon Health Centre to Taw Hill Medical Practice on 1st April. This clinic has been providing a family planning service for over 30 years. The clinic moved from Old Town to Swindon Health Centre in the 1980's but infection control standards have advanced to the point where this was no longer feasible. The clinic will utilise the two operating theatres at Taw Hill Medical Practice in order to continue providing this useful alternative to female sterilization. We wish the Clinic every success and are pleased to welcome them to the surgery.
