Thin layer of treatment gel applied.
Typical Treatment Parameters
10mm Versastat handpiece with sapphire cooled treatment window.
1 treatment pass = 1 pass at 40-45 J/cm2 and 55millisecond pulse width 1.5Hz repetition rate*

Treatment head orientation and treatment delivery
Treatment head held perpendicular and in contact with the skin and gel and moved in a smooth "painting" motion over the treatment area to deliver treatment exposures evenly over treatment area (avoiding over-treating sensitive areas or areas with thin skin over bony prominences). Move onto another treatment area and treat areas sequentially before returning to same area 2-3 minutes later. 4-6 treatment passes - be cautious - do not over treat on the basis of apparent lack of immediate response - it is safer to wait and retreat. The effects of treatment may not be fully apparent until several weeks after exposure to the Nd:Yag laser. DO NOT stack pulses - allow thermal energy from each pass to dissipate between passes and be guided by patient feedback - if the patient reports that the treated area feels "as hot as they would comfortably wish to tolerate" by the 3rd or 4th pass, do not progress further. The desired clinical endpoint is not a visible one but is based on patient feedback.
Post Treatment
Post cool if needed with Zimmer air cooler
Anticipated post treatment course:-
Note: an increase in flushing may occur for 2-4 weeks post treatment - this is entirely normal. The flushing normally drops to below baseline by 6 weeks post treatment
